This tour will take you to Amboseli national park where you will be able to witness the largest population of Elephants living at the foot of the highest mountain in Africa and then takes you up Kilimanjaro via Rongai route.
Itinerary
Day 1 :
Arrival in Nairobi and stay in a city hotel. This will depend on your flight details. You can have a half day city tour if you arrive early.
Day 2 :
We will pick you up from you place of stay and drive to Amboseli national park. Lunch will be at Discovery Amboseli safari camp. Continue with game drive in search of the Big 5 till 6pm. You will return to the camp for the night.
Waking up early, you will go for a pre-breakfast game drive till 9am. You will return to the camp for breakfast. Afterwards, we will drive to Tarakea border for migration paper work before driving to Rongai gate 1950m where the trekking starts. We will hike for 2-3hrs to Simba camp 2650m for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 :
After a well-prepared breakfast, we will hike for 9km Kikelelwa camp with an early lunch served at the 2nd cave camp. We will break for overnight stay at Kikelelwa camp (3600m).
Day 4 :
Today breakfast will be served outside the open moorland with the morning sun giving it an extra taste. We will hike for 6hrs to Mawenzi Tarn hut (4330m) for lunch. 6km We will spend the rest of the day exploring this beautiful tarn. Dinner will be served early.
Day 5 :
Today we will take a late breakfast. We will have an acclimatization day with all meals served in the camp.
Day 6 :
Today we hike for 9km to Kibo hut (4700m) with lunch break on the way.
Day 7 :
We will start the summit at 12am. First to Gilman Point 5695m, then to Stellar Point 5765m before finally reaching Uhuru peak (5895m). This is the ultimate goal and you will be rewarded with the scenic views of the lowland in both Kenya and Tanzania. After a short photo session, we will descend back to Kibo camp for breakfast. We shall continue down- hill to Horombo camp (3700m) where we will break for the night. 20km.
Day 8 :
After having your last breakfast in the mountain, we will descend to Marangu gate 20km, where you will collect your certificate of achievement before heading to Moshi and stay in a city hotel.
Day 9 :
After some gift-shopping in the morning, we will transfer you to Kilimanjaro international airport where you will connect your flight back home.
